The substance falls under straight chain saturated aliphatic hydrocarbons, which is acquired from splitting and fractional distillation of crude oil. It is colorless but smells like gasoline. It is a chemical solvent with fast volatility and is highly effective for cleaning glasses.
It can be used as a solvent, and for extraction or organic synthesis with applications such as washing in the electronics industry, extracting agents in the pharmaceutical industry and edible vegetable oil.
